visit to the Iraqi Media and Communications Commission (IMCC)

The College of Political Sciences at Al-Nahrain University, under the auspices of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Osama Murtada Baqir Al-Saidi, organized a scientific visit to the Iraqi Media and Communications Commission (IMCC). The visit was hosted by the Training and Employment Unit and the Department of Political Systems and Public Policies at the College, with the participation of several students and under the supervision of Dr. Ali Muhammad Amnif, Dr. Mustafa Sadiq Awad, Assistant Lecturer Abdullah Muhammad Qasim, and Assistant Lecturer Noor Mushtaq Hassan.
During the visit, the students and faculty members met with Mr. Qadir Abdul Wahab Abdul Razaq, Director of the Media Regulation Department at IMCC. He provided an overview of the commission’s work and its role in monitoring the Iraqi media, highlighting the challenges it faces. He also discussed the commission’s notable achievements in supporting media channels and recent developments in the field of media and communications in both local and international contexts.
The students and faculty members were given a tour of the commission’s departments and sections, where they learned about the nature of the work and tasks of each department. The meeting featured active scientific interventions from students and professors, shedding light on the commission’s crucial role in achieving balance, professionalism, and transparency in its work.
The Iraqi Media and Communications Commission was established in June 2004 as an independent body not affiliated with any government entity. Its mission is to regulate and develop the media and communications sector in Iraq according to modern international standards.
