The thesis aims to analyze the extent of the United States’ influence on United Nations decisions during the 2023 Gaza war
, by revealing the tools of political and diplomatic influence exercised within the international organization, and evaluating its impact on the effectiveness of the United Nations in managing conflicts, contributing to a deeper understanding of the balance of power in the international system.
The thesis included a presentation of the most prominent positions of the United States in the Security Council and the General Assembly during the war, analyzing the tools of political and diplomatic pressure used, as well as studying the impact of those positions on the credibility and role of the United Nations in addressing international crises.
The thesis concluded that the United States played a pivotal role in directing United Nations decisions to serve its interests and those of its allies, which affected the ability of the international organization to take more neutral and effective positions. It recommended the need to enhance the independence of the UN decision and develop mechanisms to limit the influence of major powers on UN institutions.
