The Faculty of Political Science at Al-Nahrain University discussed a master’s thesis by student Jaafar Hassoun Abbas, entitled “Strategic Analysis and Governance of Decision-Making in Light of the Assumptions of the Sherman Kent School.” The discussion committee consisted of distinguished professors:
- Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Hamid (Chairman)
- Professor Dr. Muhannad Abdel Wahed Kazem (Member)
- Assistant Professor Dr. Salah Mahdi Hadi (member)
- Professor Dr. Suhad Ismail Khalil (member and supervisor)
The importance of the study is to investigate the governance of decision-making through the relationship between strategic analysis and intelligence analysis by employing Sherman Kent's assumptions. Research into this relationship is necessary to make decisions more successful than simply responding to the abundance and accumulation of information and the complexity of situations. Linking governance with analysis is important because it helps bridge the intellectual gap between the necessities of the present and the capabilities of the future, and more importantly, it helps bridge the gap between the intelligence community and decision makers.
