A research team from the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, contributed to the international book published by Springer, titled “Strategies for Environmental Risk Management: Challenges and Solutions (SERM)”, with their research paper “International Response to Manage Environmental Threats: A Study of Anti-Climate Change Campaigning “Iraq as a model””.

The study, presented by researchers Asst. Prof. Anmar Ali Ibrahim, Dr. Laith Alaa Khudair, and Dr. Murtada Rahim Salman, summarized the expansion of the concept of security to become more diverse, encompassing environmental risks and climate change, and their impact on food, health, water, and human security.

The study highlighted international awareness of environmental risks, especially climate change, and reviewed strategies of specialized international institutions, as well as international strategies of selected models that achieved significant progress in addressing climate change.

The research also discussed Iraq’s national strategy to address climate change, as a realistic and effective strategy, particularly in adopting a hybrid approach and alternative energy, and enhancing state resources with an environmentally-friendly economic model through sustainable development
