Asst. Prof. Dr. Sura Muwafaq Maqsud, a lecturer at the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, contributed to a collective book published by the Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning, titled “Iraqi-Iranian Relations in the Winds of Change: Future Visions for Constructive Relations”, with a chapter titled “Geo-Economic Competition and Regional Balance: The Development Road and Rail Link between Iraq and Iran as a Model”.

The chapter analyzed the geo-economic dimension of the Development Road project versus the rail link project, and explored their implications for the regional balance of power and Iraq’s role in international trade networks.

The study concluded that the Development Road project will increase Iraq’s geo-economic and geo-political weight as a global trade corridor and a connecting point between East and West.
