Asst. Prof. Ammar Ayad Katouf, a lecturer at the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, has published a research paper titled “Risks and Benefits of Forming Regions in the Iraqi Reality after 2005” in the Maysan Journal of Political and International Studies, issued by the College of Political Science, University of Maysan.

The research highlights the existing debate surrounding the concept of regions, as enshrined in the Iraqi Constitution of 2005. While some view the idea of regions with skepticism, advocating for its postponement until democracy is more firmly established, others are optimistic, seeing it as a source of benefits in the Iraqi context.

The paper sheds light on the risks and benefits of forming regions in Iraq, providing insights into the ongoing discussion on this critical issue
