tM. Dr. Mohammed Majid Hussein, faculty member at the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, published a research paper titled “The General Principles of Russian Policy and Its Vision Toward a Multipolar International System” in the Political and International Journal published by the College of Political Science at Al-Mustansiriyah University.The paper addressed the transformations that the Russian Federation has witnessed since President Vladimir Putin assumed office in 2000, particularly with regard to managing internal crises and confronting external challenges and threats, foremost among them Western attempts at containment and expansion into Russia’s vital sphere.It also examined the role of the Russian state’s control over the energy sector and the capabilities this provided, which contributed to strengthening the Russian economy and implementing structural reforms within the military institution. This was reflected in the growth of Russia’s power components and its increased capacity to influence regional and international issues.The paper concluded that these transformations have contributed to enhancing the presence of the Russian Federation as a major actor in the international system, amid changes in the structure of the global system and the growing trend toward multipolarity and the decline of the unipolar pattern.
