“Political Science Lecturer Co-Authors Global Book on the Iraqi State

Professor Dr. Hisham Hikmat Abdul Sattar, Professor of Political Systems and Public Policies at the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, co-authored the global book “A Century of State-Building in Iraq”, published by the international publishing house Palgrave Macmillan, which has over 175 years of experience in academic publishing in the humanities and social sciences, with branches in ten countries around the world. The book was issued to coincide with the centenary of the founding of the Iraqi state, and it features contributions from a group of academics and researchers from various universities and research centers around the world. The book, which consists of thirteen chapters, addresses various issues in the fields of constitutional, international, and regional studies, shedding light on the approaches to state-building and its transformations over time. The book also discusses the need to establish concepts of peaceful coexistence and political consensus in Iraq after 2003, and answers fundamental questions about the reasons and motivations behind building the Iraqi state according to a federal system, with a focus on the relationship between the components of Iraqi society, particularly Arabs and Kurds, as one of the most prominent challenges in the state-building process since its founding
