Political Science Embraces a Green Future

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Osama Murtada Baqir Al-Saidi, the college organized a volunteer festival under the slogan “Together Towards a Green Future” calling for creating a green environment and sustainable development in Iraq.

The festival was inaugurated by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Osama Murtada Baqir Al-Saidi, and attended by the administrative and scientific Vice Deans, Prof. Dr. Abbas Saadoun Rafat and Prof. Dr. Haider Zuhair Jassim, as well as the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Alaa Hussein Abd.

In his speech, the Dean emphasized the importance of focusing on the green belt due to the environmental challenges and pollutants facing Iraq, which make it a national, moral, and health responsibility for all. He praised the role of young people in addressing this important challenge.

The festival, supervised by Prof. Dr. Idhaha Noman and Prof. Dr. Nisreen Riyadh, featured a photography exhibition, a painting exhibition, an interactive scientific presentation on desertification, pollution, and sustainable development in Iraq, as well as video reports on sustainable development conferences that aim to achieve a balance between human needs and environmental protection.

The event also included a painting and national poetry exhibition, an interactive video report on desertification, pollution, and its types, drought, the green belt, and UN sustainable development conferences from 1972 to the present, with the participation of Master’s and Ph.D. students from all departments of the college.
