Professor Dr. Layla Ashour Hajim, a lecturer at the College of Political Sciences, Al-Nahrain University, participated in a joint research paper titled “The Role of Human Capital Development in the Transformation towards Digital Economy: Singapore as a Model” with Dr. Bushra Ashour Hajim. The research was presented at the First Ramah International Conference for Social Sciences and Humanities, organized by the Quranic University and the Center for Research and Development of Human Resources in Jordan, held in Amman, Jordan, on October 12-13.
The research aims to study the role of human capital development in promoting the digital economy, focusing on Singapore as a successful case study. Singapore presents an exceptional model in utilizing human capital as a developmental driver, ranking high globally in the Human Capital Index due to its comprehensive strategy linking educational planning to the needs of productive sectors.
This approach is reflected in Singapore’s excellence in technical and scientific fields, as indicated by key performance indicators such as its top ranking in global innovation indices and its high ranking in PISA tests for mathematics and science, as well as the significant contribution of high-tech sectors to its GDP
