The College of Political Sciences at Al-Nahrain University held a discussion of a master’s thesis titled “International Non-Governmental Organizations and Human Rights Since 2001” presented by student Noor Al-Huda Salem Yousif Baba.
The discussion committee consisted of:
- Professor Dr. Muhammad Karim Kazim (Chairman)
- Professor Dr. Arshad Muzahim Mujbil (Member)
- Assistant Professor Dr. Abbas Fadil Alwan (Member)
- Professor Dr. Riyadh Mahdi Abdul Kazim (Member and Supervisor)
The study highlighted the growing role of international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) concerned with human rights, which have become a voice for the oppressed and persecuted around the world. This is particularly significant with the increasing global attention to human rights issues and the emergence of effective organizations such as Amnesty International and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The importance of the study lies in shedding light on the growing influence of these organizations in the human rights and humanitarian fields, their role in defending victims and promoting the application of international humanitarian law, and analyzing their role in modern conflicts, particularly in the Gaza War in 2023.
