A field visit

A field visit was organized by a group of students and professors from the Department of International Economic Relations at the College of Political Sciences, Al-Nahrain University, to the Ministry of Planning, as part of efforts to enhance cooperation between Iraqi universities and government institutions. The visit aimed to familiarize the group with the ministry’s activities and tasks, particularly the tasks of the International Cooperation Department, in line with the academic curriculum of international studies and international relations.
The college delegation met with the Director of the International Relations Department, Eng. Mohammed Ismail, who presented a comprehensive overview of the importance of development cooperation and international development relations. He explained the framework governed by international agreements, memoranda of understanding, and joint committees, as well as their alignment with international laws and agreements, particularly the Iraqi Treaty Law No. 35 of 2015, and national plans and strategies supporting sustainable development. The discussion also covered the mechanisms of working with countries, agencies, and international organizations.
The professors and students of the college, led by the Head of the Department, Dr. Mustafa Hussein Abdul-Razaq, expressed their gratitude for the visit, which contributed to building scientific awareness among students and enhancing their understanding of the institutional reality in the field of development cooperation. They emphasized the significant benefit of this experience, which added a qualitative dimension to their academic journey, enriched by practical reality
