A faculty member from the College of Political Sciences participates in an international forum

Professor Dr. Amer Hashim Awad, a lecturer at the College of Political Sciences, Al-Nahrain University, participated in the 6th Arab Forum for Community Development, which was held under the slogan “The Role of Arab University Institutions in Promoting Volunteer Values”. The forum was organized by the Moroccan Center for Volunteering and Citizenship in partnership with the German Hanns Seidel Foundation, and was attended by the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, Mrs. Naima Ben Yahya, in the Kingdom of Morocco from May 13 to 17.
Dr. Amer presented a vision on the topic of volunteer work in higher education institutions in Iraq, focusing on Al-Nahrain University and the College of Political Sciences. The value of volunteer work was documented in the topics of scientific promotions and performance evaluation, as a unique Arab experience in this field, and was included in the final recommendations of the forum.
The forum was attended by a group of university professors, experts, and specialists representing Arab universities from Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Egypt, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania.
The forum aimed to open an Arab discussion on the contribution of Arab universities as educational platforms in spreading awareness of the importance of volunteering through curricula, seminars, and workshops, preparing students for effective participation in volunteer work by developing their personal and social skills, conducting research and studies on the impact of volunteer work on society, and studying the challenges and opportunities related to volunteering.
