Scientific Discussion

Al-Nahrain University’s College of Political Sciences discussed the Ph.D. thesis of researcher Muhammad Qasim Abdul-Kadhim Al-Kalabi, titled “The Security Public Policies of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq after 2017”. The discussion took place in the Civilizations Hall on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025.

The thesis’s significance lies in its examination of one of the most prominent security actors in Iraq after 2017, namely the Popular Mobilization Forces, in terms of its role in consolidating national security and protecting internal stability, as well as the impact of its security policies on building state institutions and enhancing the political process.

The thesis aimed to analyze the security public policies of the Popular Mobilization Forces after defeating ISIS, and to identify the most significant challenges it faced, while highlighting its impact on supporting national security strategies and enhancing internal stability.
