Congratulations

The Dean of the College of Political Science at Al-Nahrain University, represented by Professor Dr. Osama Murtada Baqer Al-Saidi, extends its warmest congratulations to lecturer Ahmed Hassan Hadi on the occasion of obtaining his PhD in Political Science, after successfully defending his thesis titled: “International Efforts to Reduce Nuclear Weapons: The START Treaty of 2010 as a Model”. The study highlights the importance of international efforts in nuclear disarmament, particularly those led by the United States and the Russian Federation, given their possession of vast nuclear arsenals. The study analyzed the concept of nuclear proliferation, identified its justifications, and shed light on the NPT treaty as a cornerstone of disarmament efforts, as well as the role of the United Nations in this context, with a focus on the New START Treaty of 2010, which significantly contributed to reducing the number of nuclear warheads and delivery systems for both parties.
