“(Scientific Symposium at the College of Political Science Explores Environmental Degradation and Sustainable Development)

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Political Science at Al-Nahrain University, Professor Dr. Osama Murtadha Baqir Al-Saadi, the Department of International Economic Relations organized a scientific symposium titled “Environmental Degradation and the Triad of Sustainable Development: Poverty, Hunger, and Security” with the participation of a group of faculty members.

The symposium aimed to highlight the growing environmental challenges and their direct impact on sustainable development paths, particularly in the interconnected core areas of poverty, hunger, and security, which have become major issues facing contemporary societies.

The symposium included presentations of various research papers that addressed the economic, political, and environmental aspects of environmental degradation, focusing on its implications for development and the importance of integrating public policies to achieve sustainable goals.

The symposium concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need to activate integrated environmental policies, enhance the role of academic institutions in formulating solutions based on scientific research, and the importance of partnership between the public and private sectors and international organizations to reduce poverty and hunger and promote environmental and human security.”
