The College of Political Sciences at Al-Nahrain University discussed a master’s thesis titled “Electoral System and Political Reform: Iraq and Kuwait after 2010-2025, A Comparative Study” by the student Nada Kazem Alwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The thesis aims to study and analyze the electoral systems applied in Iraq and Kuwait during the period (2010-2025) and their impact on the path of political reform, as well as to reveal the extent to which these systems can represent the popular will and produce political elites that meet the requirements of a real democratic system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The thesis consisted of three main axes: the first dealt with the theoretical and conceptual framework of electoral systems and political reform, the second focused on analyzing the development of electoral systems in Iraq and Kuwait, and the third axis was devoted to studying the relationship between the electoral system and the extent to which political reform is achieved in both countries from a comparative perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The thesis reached several conclusions, including that political reform in both countries is linked to the nature of the electoral system, and that there is a clear discrepancy in the effectiveness of these systems in supporting the democratic transition process. The thesis also recommended the need to develop the legislative and institutional structure of the electoral system to enhance representative justice and political stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
