Prof. Dr. Afrah Muhammad Ali \u2013 Member and Supervisor.The study dealt with the political role played by Taro Katsura in modern and contemporary Japanese history, tracing his career from his upbringing and military and political formation, up to his assumption of the Japanese government presidency three times, and his role in formulating an important aspect of Japan’s domestic and foreign policies during the late Meiji era and the beginning of the Taisho era.The study aimed to analyze Katsura’s position in Japanese political life, and to clarify the nature of his relationship with the military establishment, political elites and parties, as well as to study his most prominent positions and policies during his successive governments, and the extent of his contribution to the transformations witnessed by Japan until 1913.The study concluded that Taro Katsura represented one of the influential figures in the development of the Japanese political system at the beginning of the twentieth century, as his role was linked to a stage characterized by the growing position of Japan regionally and internationally, and by the interaction between the military elite, bureaucracy, and party forces. His political experience also contributed to highlighting the transformations that gradually pushed the Japanese system towards expanding the role of parties and parliamentary forces in political life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
